About
About our foodbank
Here is an introduction to our project.
When did we start?
Our Foodbank is part of the national Trussell network, founded by City Church Gloucester in 2005. We were initially based in Barton Street, Gloucester before moving our current site on Great Western Road in 2009. In our first full year we distributed 1,400 parcels to local people, compared to the year 2023-24 were we supplied over 17,00 emergency food parcels, which now include living essentials wherever possible.
How do we work?
We partner with many local groups who want to support those facing financial hardship by donating money, food and living essentials to help stock our parcels. We have a number of collection points in supermarkets throughout GL1-GL4 where everyone can donate in-store purchases to support our work. For a full list of what we need & where to donate, click here.
Who do we support?
We support all resident living with GL1-GL4 postcodes, with emergency food parcels and living essentials. We work with many local agencies, who identify a need in the community and refer someone directly to us. If someone is in need of support and does not know where to turn, please see our Get Help section.
We also offer a 1-to-1 Financial Support Service to people who are in need of further advice & help. The aim is to maximise a person’s financial independence, so that everyone can have the dignity of buying their own food. This service is provided in partnership with local charity, GL Communities.
How can you help?
As need continues to rise, we need your help more than ever before.
We are seeing a high demand for parcels, but sadly our donations are decreasing.
If you are able to help us in any way, please consider donating our most needed stock items during your weekly shop, or click here to support us with vital financial donations.
