Tesco store customers incredible winter generosity for Gloucester’s community
We would like to say a huge thank you to the wonderful community champions Theresa, Helen, & Mandy alongside the overwhelmingly kind customers of Tesco Brockworth, Quedgeley & St Oswalds for helping us during our annual winter food colleciton in November 2024. We handed out thousands of shopping lists and information leaflets, whilst talking about the vital work we do to support local people in times of crisis.
The numbers
We are so grateful for the kindness and compassion of Tesco’s customers. Collectively donating a staggering 5,588.63kg of essential items including food, toiletries, and baby care products that will support our clients when they need it most.
This donation will support us to provide 13,306 meals in our emergency food parcels.
Alongside stock, we also received extremely generous cash donations which will support our current need to purchase 30% of our annual stock, due to donations reducing, and need for our parcels increasing.
What impact will this have?
The donations made are being used to fill our emergency parcels, now they have been sorted by our warehouse team. Your generosity has such an incredible impact on our service. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.
A special thank you
It goes without saying that we could not have achieved this without the dedication of our volunteers, we are very lucky to have such an involved team who donate their time to ensure we can hold these collection drives.
We also hosted some special guest volunteers from Gloucester Quays Rotary Club and the staff of TSB bank, Wills Bros, Tesco Corporate and Gloucestershire County Council who reached out to us wishing to give back to the local community by donating their time in kind. Thank you, you were all fantastic!
